Moving Into your New Home - 5 Tips to Make It Easier

06Jan 2015

Moving house can be one of the most stressful experiences that you will ever have to go through. Unfortunately, it is something that the majority of us will have to go through at least once in our lifetime. Although it can be incredibly stressful, there are actually a number of things that you can do which will actually make your move a little less stressful. Here are 5 tips that will help you massively, when it comes to moving house. 1.    De-Clutter Before the Move – This is definitely one of the most important things that you can do, before you even start packing up your things. One of the biggest mistakes that people tend to make, when it comes to moving home, is thinking that everything that they own needs to go with them. This is simply not the case. The best thing that you can do, if you want to save yourself a lot of stress, as well as space, is to chuck out anything that you don’t need, or use. If you have the time, you can take it to charity too!2.    Pack Things Sensibly – Another mistake that people make is to rush their packing. Again, this is a very bad idea. When it comes to packing your belongings for a house move, it is a good idea to make sure that there is a little method to the madness. Write down an itinerary of sorts. Each room should be packed separately. However, if you want to make sure that unpacking is relatively easy, then it is a good idea to pack things that need to go together in the same boxes.3.    Lay down Carpets Before you Move In – Again, many people think that simply moving in is the hard part. Unfortunately, if you haven’t sorted out the flooring, then things are about to get a lot more difficult. If you want to make things a lot easier, then it is best to lay down the carpets and flooring before you even move in. By doing this, you don’t have to worry about moving around furniture and unpacking around things. You will simply have to move your furniture in and then unpack. 4.    Hire a Truck – If you are thinking that it will be easier to move your belongings with your car, then you are unfortunately, wrong. It is actually much easier to move as much as you can with one trip. The only way that you are going to be able to do this is to hire a large truck, unless you already have one. The good news is that these trucks are not that expensive to hire, so you can move all of your larger items within a couple of trips. This will definitely ease your stress. 5.    Leave It Until the Weekend – If you work full time, then it would definitely be a wise idea to try and leave the moving house until a weekend when you are free. If you are trying to do it when you have finished working for the day, then the chances are that you are going to be rushing around trying to get everything done quickly. However, if you move one a free weekend, then there is a good chance that you will be able to move everything from your old property to your new property over the course of the weekend. This will not only save you a lot of stress, but it will also save you a lot of time as well.
